Four Season Interest Landscape

When the owners of this new home in Gates Mills, Ohio discussed plans for a perennial garden with their architect, they insisted that I be the designer, having already designed a garden for them in their previous home. They wanted a colorful, ever-changing garden that would serve as a backdrop for the large entertaining space at the back of the house. The gardens are on several levels, with curving barnstone walls and sandstone paths. Each season has interesting plants that beckon the owners into the landscape. All of the plants were also chosen for their resistance to deer browse. This design won an award from the Ohio Landscapers Association and the Cleveland Botanical Garden.
