Project Details

The client, a medical researcher in Cleveland Heights, had lived in England for 25 years, and wanted a mixed border in his back yard. Before the design and bed preparation was implemented, the back was a large swath of grass with shallow beds of ivy along the fence. All of the ivy had to be removed; copious amounts of leaf humus and enlarged shale were incorporated into the soil to improve tilth and drainage. Most of the woody plants and ornamental grasses were installed in Fall 2013 and the perennials in Spring 2014.
